Icicles

I enjoyed watching the light change on the icicles hanging off my house.

Then the colors of sunset begins to influence them.

The last of the sunset color.

The Old Jamestown Depot

I find this building so fascinating!  It hasn't operated as a depot in my life time.  I read that the last train pulled out of this depot on March 2, 1954, several years before I was born.  I have always wished it could be restored.  It looks like it is falling down now :(

 A little closer.

I was really surprised to see the word agent still on this old door!

Another angle.

Grist Mill at Sgt. Alvin C York State Historic Park

I finally got to shoot this place in snow!  I would have loved to walk around and shoot from below the mill and include the waterfall but the gate was closed and I wasn't sure if it would be ok or not so I just walked in and shot a few from the front.

I have never shot this mill centered but I thought it worked here.  Love the green color of the water in Wolf River as it flows by this mill.

Freezing Rain, Sleet

This is the picture I woke up to this morning.
All the trees were coated with a thin layer of ice.
The church parking lot looks slushy and icy.
It looks pretty on the trees.
We only lost a few limbs.

Snow Scenes

In the past few days we have had about 12-15 inches of snow here in Somerset, KY.  I finally got to get out and shoot today!  The roads do not get cleared very fast.  Most of the snow came Sunday night and today there is still only 1 lane cleared on some of the secondary roads...... we had to stop multiple times in a driveway or clear area and wait for another car to pass because there wasn't enough road cleared.  The snow on the edge was too deep to drive into.... and I sure didn't want to go into the ditch :)   I was also shocked to find the grocery store closed on Tuesday.... I guess a lot of businesses were closed.  But it is beautiful!!

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I plan on sharing things I see and capture thru my camera.

About Me

My photo
I am 49 years old, I have 2 adult sons, a grandaughter & a grandson. I am happily married to the love of my life. I have been intrigued with photography for as long as I can remember. I am constantly striving to learn something new and improve my photography. I love doing portraits, macros, and scenic shots. I literally take my camera everywhere I go. I find that the more I learn about photographing my world, the more I learn to "see" the beauty around me.
